Olamide Adedeji, widely known by his stage name Olamide Baddo or simply Olamide, is one of Nigeria’s most influential and consistent music artists. Born on March 15, 1989, in Bariga, Lagos State, Olamide grew up in a modest household and discovered his passion for music at an early age. His environment — the streets of Bariga — played a huge role in shaping his lyrical style, which blends raw storytelling with the vibrant energy of the Lagos streets.

He began his professional music journey in 2010 with the release of his debut single “Eni Duro”, which quickly became a street anthem and marked him as a fresh voice to watch. The following year, he released his debut album “Rapsodi”, which showcased his unique ability to rap fluently in Yoruba and English, a style that has become his signature. Olamide’s sophomore album, “YBNL” (2012), not only solidified his place in the Nigerian music scene but also gave birth to the now-famous record label of the same name — YBNL Nation — which has groomed and launched several superstar careers including Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy DML, and Asake.

Olamide is known for his relentless work ethic, dropping back-to-back hit albums almost every year in the 2010s. He has produced numerous hit singles such as “Durosoke”, “Bobo”, “Wo!!”, “Motigbana”, and “Rock”, and has collaborated with other African heavyweights like Wizkid, Phyno, Davido, and Burna Boy. His music often combines street slang, indigenous storytelling, and infectious beats, making him a voice for the everyday Nigerian hustler.

Beyond music, Olamide has become a cultural icon and business mogul. His YBNL label is regarded as one of the most successful independent labels in Africa. He is also celebrated for giving young artists a platform to shine, playing a key mentorship role in the careers of many.

With over a decade in the industry, Olamide remains a dominant force in Afrobeats, hip-hop, and street music. His ability to stay relevant, evolve with the times, and still keep his core sound intact has earned him titles like “King of the Streets” and one of Nigeria’s greatest musical exports.
