After a five-year hiatus, the Los Angeles-based sister trio Haim—comprising Danielle, Este, and Alana Haim—have officially announced their fourth studio album, I Quit, set for release on June 20, 2025, via Columbia Records. This marks their first full-length project since 2020’s Women in Music Pt. III .
The album announcement came as a surprise during a recent concert in Los Angeles, following Charli XCX’s declaration of a “HAIM summer” at Coachella . The band unveiled the album title I Quit during the show, performing new tracks including the third single, “Down to Be Wrong,” and the unreleased “Blood in the Streets,” which featured a surprise dance cameo by Addison Rae .
A teaser video for the album revealed thematic statements of personal liberation, such as quitting overthinking and shame . This aligns with the album’s overarching theme of personal growth and self-discovery.
I Quit is co-produced by Danielle Haim and Rostam Batmanglij, known for his work with Vampire Weekend. The album features 15 tracks, making it the band’s longest project to date . The cover art was shot by acclaimed director and longtime Haim collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson, who has previously directed music videos for the band and worked with Alana Haim in his films .
Prior to the release of “Down to Be Wrong,” Haim released two other singles in 2025: “Relationships” and “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out.” Each single’s cover art pays homage to iconic celebrity paparazzi moments, including images of Nicole Kidman, Kate Moss, Scarlett Johansson, and Jared Leto . This creative direction adds a layer of cultural commentary to the album’s promotion.
The third single, “Down to Be Wrong,” is a melancholic and emotionally charged track that delves into themes of heartbreak and healing. Danielle Haim’s reflective vocals draw listeners into a narrative of red flags and resilience, encapsulated in the lyric: “Red lights are up ahead, but I keep walking” . The song’s slow-burning arrangement complements its introspective lyrics, marking a mature evolution in the band’s sound.
The accompanying music video, featuring actor Logan Lerman, is scheduled for release on April 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. ET . Given the band’s history of visually compelling videos, expectations are high for this latest installment.
Haim’s return with I Quit is not just a musical comeback but a cultural event. The album’s release date coincides with the first day of summer and National Ice Cream Soda Day, adding a festive touch to their return . The band’s ability to intertwine personal narratives with broader cultural moments has always been a hallmark of their appeal.
As anticipation builds for I Quit, fans and critics alike are eager to see how Haim’s evolved sound and thematic depth will resonate in today’s musical landscape. With a blend of personal introspection and cultural commentary, the album promises to be a significant addition to their discography.
